BMW's Magnificent New 560hp M6 Coupe and Convertible

BMW has just released their all-new 2013 BMW M6 Coupe and Convertible.
You've seen all of the spy shots and heard all of the rumors. And now it's finally here: BMW is banging on the supercar door with their all-new M6. Known internally as the S63 (sound familiar?), the M6 coupe and convertible offer some serious performance thanks to a new 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8. Just how powerful is BMW's new M6?The aforementioned powerplant boasts 560hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. Power is transferred through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
And not to worry, as a manual gearbox is also in the works. The M6 coupe can sprint from 0-60mph in only 4.2 seconds and the convertible take a tenth of a second longer, clocking in at 4.3 seconds. The coupe hits 124mph from rest in 12.6 seconds while the convertible does it at 13.1 seconds. Top speed is limited for both at 155 mph. An optional driver's package from the M division features an ECU remap for a top speed of 190mph.What is more impressive for the BMW M6 is, like the M5, it cuts fuel consumption by 30 percent with its increased performance by 10 percent. And remember, the previous M6 was powered by a larger V10.
Bigger and lighter brakes help keep weight down on the aggressively-styled Bimmer. A unique kidney grille features a subtle M6 badge, optional LED lights, widened side sills affixed under the doors and a contoured roof panel all add to its new styling. It sits on a set of 9.5-inch wide 19-inch wheels in the front will the rear boasts 10.5-inch wide wheels of the same size in the rear. A set of larger 20-inch wheels are optional. So yes, this new M6 no longer has that wonderful V10. Like its sedan brother, the M5, BMW is fully aware of the fact that each subsequent M generation model must outperform its predecessor.
And from what we've seen from the latest M5, this new M6 will not disappoint. In fact, we predict it's going to go down as one of the best M cars ever built (note the coupe's double-bubble carbon fiber roof). No official pricing has been released, but the convertible will be making its way to US showrooms this June. The coupe will likely follow sometime in the fall. The third-generation M6 coupe is expected to make its live debut at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show in March while the convertible should arrive in April at the New York Auto Show.
