The 186mph EV Elektrus just stares at you and smiles. Creepy?
PG has just created a new, Lotus-based EV ready to dethrone the Tesla Roadster as the most famous EV spinoff from the British automaker. The PG Elektrus, from the front, literally stares at you and smiles. That twinkle in its eye? No, just a set of LED lights.Using a Lotus Elise chassis and plenty of carbon fiber and composites, it weighs under 2,000lbs and can run from 0-62mph in under three seconds. Top speed is said to be 186mph and it has a range of 217 miles on just a single charge. Those are some impressive figures for a powertrain that puts out 270hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. It also features some solar panels that help recharge the car's battery. All the lightweight and performance will undoubtedly lead to many detractors saying "Yeah but it's an EV, so where is the noise? I want the full feel of a sports car?"Well, don't get your panties in a bunch, as the Elektrus has a sound system built into the impressive automobile, allowing the driver to flick a switch between the engine noise of a rough and rugged V8 or an F1 racer. Seriously.
The PG Elektrus is scheduled to head into production later this year. Pricing should be in the range of around $360,000 U.S., though it will go on sale first in Germany.
