It's a Baker Street Special Edition, my dear Watson.
MINI has just released a pair of special edition models in honor of the 2012 London Olympics. The Games aren't scheduled to kick off until July 27th, however MINI is jumping the gun with the unveiling of two new special trims.
The MINI Baker Street pays homage to London's rich history. Interestingly enough, the Baker Street takes its name from the address of one super-sleuth: Mr. Sherlock Holmes. It is also the 125th anniversary since Sir Arthur Conan Doyle penned his first piece on the private eye.
The Metallic Gray MINI (also available in Pepper White and Midnight Black) features special striping on the hood and sits on a set of black 16-inch wheels. For added style, the side mirrors are also finished in the same glossy black color. In regards to the cloth/leather interior, MINI says in their press release that the "new seat variant in Cross Check Rooftop Grey light features a diamond pattern. Cross Check Rooftop Grey light is also used for the surfaces of the cockpit and door trim and is combined with a Rooftop Grey light Color Line."The Baker Street special edition comes equipped with MINI's Chrome Line Interior package and Pepper Pack.It is available on the MINI One, Cooper, One D and Cooper D. The range-topping special edition Cooper puts out 122hp. All the models are paired to a six-speed manual transmission, however the British company has made a six-speed automatic optional.
