A topless version of the 2013 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 was captured testing ahead of the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.

We've already gone to great lengths detailing the new 2013 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 and its 5.8-liter supercharged V8 engine, so to wax poetic on the convertible variant would be to delve into the excess of awesomeness that is the new 2013 model.The 2013 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 convertible variant should run the same powerplant. With 650hp and 600 lb-ft of torque, the hardtop model easily hit the 200+mph mark.
The soft-top version might not reach those same staggering speeds, however impressive supercar performance is expected nonetheless.Though we aren't sure when the convertible version of the 2013 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 will make its debut, it could arrive as early as next week's Detroit Auto Show.
