Get ready, get set...time for yet another Corvette performance debate.
Ok all of you Corvette fans, this one will more than likely get some attention, to say the least. British auto magazine Autocar has recently posted a video comparison of the Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport vs. the Nissan GT-R and the Jaguar XKR.They want to know how the £73,000 Corvette GS convertible compares with those cars in a drag race. Correctly noting the Corvette they're testing is equipped with an automatic instead of a manual, it is the slowest of the Grand Sport lineup.
Pitted against the 2012 Nissan GT-R and the Jaguar XKR, it's not too hard to predict which car takes first. The question on our minds was what would take second. Presenter Vicky Parrott also states that (and here's where Corvette guys will likely begin to speak their minds) the Corvette simply feels outdated when compared to the current competition. Still, she doesn't question its uniqueness and power, only strongly hinting that Chevrolet needs to launch the highly anticipated C7 soon in order to truly be a global competitor. The way we see it, in a few years' time there will need to be a rematch (along with many others) once the C7 has its debut. Word from sources indicates that car will address the C6's faults while still being a solid bargain when compared to the competition. Only time will tell.
